Multipurpose Taxi Card
The Multi-Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) makes transport more affordable for Victorians with a severe disability.
The program gives a 50% subsidy on fares for taxis, hire car and rideshare (eg Uber).
The card is issued by Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (formerly the Taxi Services Commission). Go to https://cpv.vic.gov.au/passengers/mptp
To be eligible for the card you must:
- Be a permanent resident of Australia and live in Victoria.
- Have a severe and permanent disability.
- Be unable to use public transport safely and independently.
- Demonstrate financial hardship. You can show your Notice of Assessment from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) or hold one of the following:
- Centrelink Concession Card (e.g. Disability Support Pension or Age Pension)
- Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) card or an Extreme Disablement Adjustment (EDA) or Totally and Permanently Incapacitated (TPI) notation.
Passengers who require the use of a wheelchair permanently are exempt from the financial hardship test.
How to Apply
- Get your doctor to complete the online medical assessment form
- You will be sent a request for consent to assess your application. Complete it and send it back.
- You’ll be notified in writing whether or not your application was successful.
